Build Your Own Target Frame

Target Frames may not be available when you arrive at the range. To be sure you have something vertical to mount your target, plan on bringing your own target frame. This page describes how to build your own simple target frame for about $2

Tools and Materials Required

You will need the following materials to build your own target frame:

• Two each One-by-Two Furring Strips. (example)
• Cardboard sheet at least 14.25 inches wide
• Staple gun and staples (example)

Assembly Instructions

1. Cut the furring strips to an approximate 6 foot length if desired.
2. Arrange the furring strips on the floor parallel to each other and with their outside edges 14.25 inches apart.
3. Staple the cardboard to the furring strips at least every three inches along each side.

Refer to the diagram below showing the finished frame

This frame will drop right into the target frame bases supplied at the range. You can then just staple your target to the cardboard and you are ready to start a day of shooting!

If you don't want to worry about dimensions, just bring the 1x2's and cardboard to the range and build the frame right on the stand while you are hanging your target.
