The Summit Range Association is a Colorado Non-Profit Entity and is also a 501(c)(3) organization. This means your contribution may be tax deductible!
Visit the Range Overview Page for a complete overview of the range's facilities. Here is a quick summary:
There are three separate ranges at this facility: 1) 50 Yard Pistol/Rimfire Range, 2) 100 Yard Centerfire Rifle Range, and 3) a Trap Range. Targets bases and stands with backers are provided on the 50 and 100 Yard ranges. Please see the Targets Page for complete information on selecting and mounting targets at this range as well as information on how to operate the throwers.
The trap range is equipped with four Lincoln Trap Model SC-90e throwers. These throwers can launch singles or doubles and are quite powerful... especially with the red springs. If you prefer a slower clay launch, you may consider bringing your own thrower or using a thrower with a blue spring.
If an yellow-vested Range Safety Officer (RSO) is on duty, the range has a limited supply of loaner spotting scopes, shooting bags, and staple guns you can borrow. Please see the RSO calendar to see if an RSO will be on duty during your visit.
Rental firearms and ammunition are not available at the range. However, if there is an RSO on duty, there are usually clay targets available in exchange for a donation to use on the trap range.
|The Summit County Shooting Range is divided into four separate areas as shown here.|
The area in red is for law enforcement use only and is not available for public use.
The green area is designated for handguns (and rimfire rifles). The maximum range is about 48 yards.
The blue area is the only range that supports center-fire rifles. This includes .223 and 5.56mm rifles. The maximum range is about 100 yards. 50 caliber and larger centerfire rifles are not allowed.
Finally, the yellow area is set aside for shotgun use. Only shotguns (and shotshell pistols) are allowed on the shotgun range. Pistol or rifle shooting on the shotgun range is not permitted. Slug shooting is also not allowed on the shotgun range.
As described on the Targets Page, you may only mount and shoot at paper, cardboard, and commercial reusable stationary targets. Range rules have the force of law and are punishable by fines and/or expulsion from the range. The Summit County Sheriff's Office is patrolling the range frequently. In addition, NRA-certified Range Safety Officers may be on duty.
Please see the Rules and Regulations page prior to visiting the range. You can also download and print the Range Brochure (pdf) which also provides the rules and regulations in a compact, 2-page form you can throw in your shooting bag.
The Summit County Shooting Range is managed, maintained, and equipped by the Summit Range Association - a 501(c)(3) non-profit. The range relies on donations, volunteers, and people like you to help keep the range operating.
The appearance of this range reflects on the firearms owners of Summit County. Please tidy up your shooting position and pull your targets from the backers when you are done.
Try and leave the range
a little nicer than when you arrived.
You are required to clean up your spent shell casings. If you do not keep your brass, please put your spent brass in the five gallon buckets provided. Aluminum and steel casings can simply go into the trash barrels.
Please Note: Brass that is deposited in the range-supplied Brass Buckets is considered a donation to the Summit Range Association. Please do not remove brass from these buckets. You are free to keep your own brass, but please do not take donated brass from the buckets.
The range is periodically closed for cleanup and maintenance. Sign up for email notifications so you can avoid arriving at a closed range...or so you can be notified of volunteer opportunities to help keep this range looking great!
Please and they will be corrected as soon as possible.
