Summit County Shooting Range
Why Take This Course?
Even if you have never held a handgun, you will be able to
safely handle, shoot, clean, and store a semi-automatic pistol and a revolver
after you complete this course. If you are already familiar with handguns,
this course can help you become a more
accurate and safer handgun owner.
After successfully completing this course, you will receive a
certificate that you can use to apply for your Colorado Concealed Handgun permit.
This course is thorough, low-pressure, low-stress, and fun. It is very
'hands-on'. You can ask questions
at any time! The class size is a maximum student/instructor ratio of 4:1 in the classroom, and 2:1 on the range to
ensure you get personalized, focused attention as your knowledge and
skills grow. You will never be asked to do anything that
you are uncomfortable doing. You learn at your pace.
Everything is provided in this class. Guns, ammunition, cleaning
supplies, and even eye and ear protection. You do not need to own a handgun to take this course. In fact, this
class teaches you how to choose your first handgun! Both semi-automatic
and revolver-type handguns are available for use while you are
taking the class.
If you already own
a handgun, you are welcome to bring it to class on the first day and again on the second day at the range. Please make sure it is in a case both days when you arrive.
Please Note: Absolutely NO live ammunition is allowed in the classroom at any time.
The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting class teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and
attitude for owning and operating a pistol safely. This course is 100% Instructor-led.
