NRA Basics of Shotgun Shooting Course

June 1 & Sept. 7, 2019
Summit County Shooting Range

Even if you have never shot a shotgun before, you will be able to safely handle, shoot, clean, and store a shotgun after you complete this course. If you are already familiar with shotguns, this course can help you become a more accurate and safer shotgun owner.

Everything is provided in this class. Shotguns, ammunition, cleaning supplies, and even eye and ear protection. You do not need to own a shotgun to take this course. In fact, this class teaches you how to choose your first shotgun. If you already own a shotgun, you are welcome to use it both during the classroom and range session.

Please Note: Absolutely NO live ammunition is allowed in the classroom at any time.

Please also note that this course is not replacement for the Colorado Hunter Education Course. More information on this course and how to sign up is available at the CPW Hunter Education Page.

Course Description

The NRA Basics of Shotgun Shooting Course teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for the safe and proper use of a shotgun in shooting a moving target. This course is divided into two sessions). The first day is classroom based with instruction, demonstrations, participation, and practical hands-on activities. This first day typically runs about 6-8 hours. The second day you will spend on the range applying your newly learned skills.
